Videospielsoundtrack bei den Olympischen Spielen

Videospiele sind seit Längerem wichtiger Bestandteil der japanischen Popkultur. Das Land ist bekannt für die Entwicklung vieler bekannter Spielereihen. Dies wurde auch bei der Eröffnungsfeier der Olympischen Spiele 2020 deutlich. Mehr als 11.000 Sportlerinnen und Sportler liefen zum Soundtrack bekannter japanischer Videospiele ins Stadion ein. Unter anderem wurden Songs aus den Spielen Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest sowie Sonic the Hedgehog orchestriert und so Teil der Zeremonie.

ESports und Videospiele gehören bislang noch nicht zu den offiziellen olympischen Disziplinen, doch in diesem Jahr wurde ihnen mit der „Olympic Virtual Series“ zum ersten Mal ein eigenes olympisches Event gewidmet.

14 of the 15 are women. Four are currently fleeing West. Some are in calmer regions of Ukraine, while some are in violent war zones.
