Another life

Day 10 of the full-scale war in Ukraine. There are already many casualties, wounded people and refugees who have been crossing borders with their children for the past five days without food or water, in an attempt to find refuge in other countries.

Western Ukraine has already taken in hundreds of people. They help refugees by providing housing and medicine where they can. But at the railway stations in Kyiv, hundreds and hundreds of people are unable to board the train. If you are lucky, you find a spot standing in the train car, or on the floor, crammed one on top of the other…

And you know what? Against the background of Elon Musk, the development of Apple, electric cars, new technologies, innovations and more, what is currently being done in Ukraine seems seems ridiculous.


Everyone has an emergency kit with documents, money, baby food, medicine, pet food, etc. This, of course, only applies to those who already had these items in their house. If they didn’t have these items already, they are quite difficult to buy now. Pharmacies are closed. Sometimes, when they are open, there are huge lines. Not all shops are open. Pet stores are empty. In shops that are open, old products are sold. New ones haven’t been imported yet. And it’s not clear when and how they will be delivered, taking destroyed bridges and roads into account.

In Kyiv, sirens are constantly sounding, alerting people to escape to bomb shelters, which are usually ordinary basements or subway stations. These makeshift shelters do not have enough water or oxygen. But people share. They bring cookies, and entertain children by telling fairy tales, so that it is not so cold and scary.


Elderly people, after several quick "races" to basement shelters, often feel very sick and then just stay at home despite alerts. Young children cry, unable to understand why they should sleep on the floor in the basement when they have their own bed at home.

Fear, depression. Nerves are tense like strings about to snap.

And since Feb. 24, 2022, every morning for Ukrainian families begins by listening to the news - what blew up, who was bombed… and roll calls: Are you alive? Are you okay? How did the night go? And then you wait nervously for someone to respond.

They text back: “Alive, safe!” Thank God! Glory to Ukraine! Let's hold on! Get the enemy out of our country!



10 день повномасштабної війни в Україні. Вже багато постраждалих, поранених та біженців, що з дітьми по 5 діб перетинають кордони, без їжі та води, відшукуючи прихисток в інших країнах. Західна Україна приймає людей сотнями. Допомагають. Дають якесь житло, ліки. Але на жд вокзалах в Києві сотні й сотні людей не можуть сісти на потяг. Якщо пощастить - їдуть стоячи, на підлозі, одне на одному…

І знаєте що? На фоні Ілона Маска, розвитку Apple, електромобілей, нових технологій, інновацій та іншого, те що наразі робиться в Україні видається суцільним трешем, де Спілберг просто нервово палить…

У кожної людини зібрано «тривожну валізу» з документами, грошима, дитячим харчуванням, ліками, кормом для тварин… Це якщо вони були у них у домі. А якщо ні – так легко не купиш. Аптеки закрито. Іноді, коли відкриваються – величезні черги. Магазини працюють не всі. Зоомагазини порожні. Де хто працює - розпродається стара продукція. Нову ще не завозили. І не зрозуміло, коли і як завезуть, при підірваних мостах й дорогах. 

У Києві постійно виє сирена, закликаючи бігти до бомбосховищ, що зазвичай представляють собою звичайні підвали або станції метрополітену. Без достатньої кількості води та кисню. Але люди діляться своєю. Приносять печиво, пригощають дітей, розповідають казки, щоб не було так холодно і страшно. 

Люди похилого віку після декількох таких «забігів» у підвали, почувають себе дуже погано й надалі просто лишаються вдома. Малі діти плачуть не розуміючи, чому мають спати на підлозі у підвалі, коли вдома є своя постіль?.. 

Страх, депресія. Нерви натягнуті, як струни, що от-от порвуться. 

І з 24.02.2022 кожен ранок українських родин починається з новостей – де підірвали, кого бомбили, коли літали… і переклички: Як ви там? Чи живі? Як ніч пройшла?.. А потім на нервах чекаєш, хто відгукнеться.

Живі, у безпеці! Відписались! Слава Богу! Слава Україні! Будемо триматись! Геть ворогів з нашої землі!
